Animaco- some pictures

Somebody turned into a happy bunny :D 9 minutes after official start... and the only pillow I actually had was GONE. I'm happy that it's with somebody who adores it. I still can't describe the quality. Except it's awesome. If you happen to want one for yourself, follow the white rabbit.
Dat cosplay! Aren't these girls awesome? I think these were three of the most hilarious ones and they made my day.
Yayyyyy! A Kulla!!! She was so cute and totally adorable. *_*
... wicked awesome. Did I mention wicked awesome? Yes, they were.
Obviously... Cats! And she was great.
Maaaaany plushies I really would like to call mine. But unfortunately I can't... not enough space for so many plushies. Though I wouldn't mind having 1... or 2... or all.
 X Men very first class.
These were sooooooo cute and the customes were soooo nice and they were just pure eye candy.

If you think: Wow, doesn't look crowded- yes, well... we were located in a seperate room for artists and I was grateful for it. The merchants space was PACKED and even though we had waffles scent around us all the time (pure nightmare @_@) it was way better than "down in the merchants cave".
I will upload some happy frog owners and other... things... later. Generally it was nice, exhausting and I met some awesome fellow artists, friends and colleagues and I would do it again though I'm still effin tired and feel the con in my bones.

Animaco 2012!

Cheers!

Oh wee!

I am currently in quaratine with a virus which is kinda odd and annoying and I'm staring at the ceiling and think "I sooo want to do something... anything...". Next to having problems with a sore throat and coughing and sitting around doing practically nada I wanted to say: SPIEL fair was so cool!
I was overwhelmed like a kid in candystore.
I met Dheny and Dirk and those two being -in my opinion- hardcore boardgamer we tested two games and though they totally stressed me out... I bought them.
If you wonder:
Escape
Panic Lab
Prepare for sweat if you buy those!
I am happy Dheny dragged us along, I think I'd never found Panic Lab myself. I met some colleagues, saw a lot of nerds, even more nerds and the hardcore nerds and I really want to be there next year as well. Oh Ty will crawl up the walls when he reads this. I guess I should tell him beforehand.

Oh, and since the Carcassonne Winter-Edition is FINALLY out:
The cover illustration- a collab with Irene (engelszorn.deviantart.com). I am so pleased how the whole game came out in print. If you remember this you know what I was working on. The detail work was imo worth the cramps since the details are still there, tiny tiny details you can see if you look very close. It's so awesome.
I am still amazed that I could do this and got into happy bunny mode as soon as I could get my hands on a package. Raww!!!! :D

And because I post never rarely pics of myself... the current me is this:
It's nice how much eating healthy (I eat a lot nevertheless... and I really mean A LOT) and sports can do for you. I highly recommend it. If you have a desk job being a couch potato is no option- that's the lesson I learned.

*pressing the publish button before I start regretting it >_< *

It's coming....

... only five more weeks :3
Click Click for awesomeness!

For those who will be at the game fair in Essen:
Ty and me will be there on Friday, hopefully shopping myself into bliss and chatting with Dheny. *yay*

Anybody else who will be there?

Bumm Bumm Ballon!

Yay! One of my highlights this year -jobwise- because that game is effin fun!

Actually the game will be available in other countries as well but with a different cover, packaging and not our awesome manual (the manual is really awesome, me so proud!).

In Germany you'll be able to get it directly at the SPIEL in Essen (I cross my fingers for it- at least) or regular in stores.
Publisher: Schmidt Spiele
rating: Awesome! Get it as soon as it is out!

On Amazon Germany

It's kinda awesome how simple the packaging looks when you know how many hours I actually put into that thing. O.o we're still mulling over some additional things but basically I'll be happy to watch people test it in Essen :B And yes.... Ty and me will be there (whoot!).

How it works?

See u in Kassel :3

I'll leave for Kassel tomorrow... the last con this year and I'm looking forward to come back and finish some comic pages. It's awesome, I haven't sketched that many pages for SIX years... and now everything I can think of is: XY more.. you can finish those >_< and I think those are good. Really.
Anyways, life is kinda upside down at the moment. I really want to finish the graphics for the Pong Game and the sketches for a real game you can buy and play (and burn if you like). .. no, you won't. If I get it done as I imagine it it will look good. Really... hopefully... I guess.

I hope I can finish a lot next week. Some people have been waiting for their stuff for ages. I feel bad for it but work was so exhausting I came home and literally fell asleep while falling onto the couch.

And since so many people visit my blog just because of the Art S Buck mannekins: yes, BUY THEM. They rock! ...

AnimagiC 2010

Pics withouth any order. Since I am not into flying I had to take the train. Trains in Germany can be kinda crappy since it might happen that you end up in a train without air-conditioner.
I woke up at 6.30 and arrived in Bonn around 14.00... which is okay. 2 hours left till first signing-hour and the whole opening ceremony.
Since the guests of honour had to wait behind the stage we didn't see anything of the show. Well, I don't complain.
The evening ended for me at 1 o'clock in the morning. I think -if I ever get invited again- that I'll go straight to bed after dinner. You spend your days in a half-awake state which isn't that cool but kinda normal for a convention. o_o
The dustbun-cosplayers were so effin cool. I hope they didn't sweat as much as I believe.
one of the inside-areas where the TOKYOPOP-stall was located.
... the Tokyopop-Ankama stall. Those plushies are so nice. Bought one artbook and way too many small things for friends. o_o
Outside of the building. Over 12 000 people were there but since the area is huge you won't ever see all at once.
Cosplayers... and more cosplayers... and oh, two Sailor Moons.
I have no idea what that is meant to be but it looked awefully funny. Anybody knows what the cosplay is from?
The actual TOKYOPOP-stall. :D
Cosplayers again....
One of the most awesomenest cosplay-couples I found....
and "Wölfchen and Rotkäppchen" from "Grimm's Manga". So cute XD

I made some more pics with other artists and friends but those were too odd or just private. Allover it was hot but funny as always. I managed to get some Shikishis for myself -hurray- and have to think of what to do with those :)

2010-07-29

till Sunday- conhoppin again :D

The cats love the huge case a lot. Especially Tretel is crazy about it- I guess he wants to go to Bonn as well.
I am happy I actually *can* attend the con since the side-effects of Penecillin fade slowly. If you ever take that medicin: Prepare for an unwanted diet O___o;
Hope I see some friends and people I know there. I am so looking forward to see JD, who's giving courses for the Comicademy I think.
I'll take some pics for those who have to stay at home. Promised.

LBM- nya, over!

... not really, my skin still feels like i turned into a mummy. O_O

a lot of people already wrote something -something true, something crazy, some lies, something funny, something odd... a lot. So i keep it short.
Thanks to all those who came. A special thanks to Judith who fed the whole team with chocolate cake (accidently but still... so yummy XD).
I think with nearly 28 i got a bit more... calm maybe? Some things like personal chaos still bugs me and I am not able to handle bad disastrous news when i'm at a fair. Totally. But the rest was okay. I am much more relaxed when it comes to younger new artists and chatting with people.

A Swedish girl -coming all the way down to Germany- really impressed me with her blunt behaviour showing her portfolio at the impossible time of nearly midnight. Some people were pissed off. I was impressed. You really have to have some nerves to dare it. Call it rude, i call it brave.

Next to that i had some nice chats with an agency and some comic sellers. I call it overall a fair i like to visit. It's not as business-like as in Frankfurt and not as nerdy as Cons tend to be.
I saw Tillman (the "Rouge-Man"), friends, fans who are so kind to say Hi every single year and it was a good opportunity to talk about .. i would bore you with details :)

My head is spinning with new ideas.

What is really impressive is that so many people tend to give side blows in their "con reports". It's like you can't freak out, snore, swear and wear weird clothes without somebody is reporting it. Sad but i guess it is like self-adulation performance with all the glory and all fails and all advices nobody wants to have. We will survive anyway, won't we?

So no advice from my side. Just a good night!

petit dames

I really wanted to finish a lot of sketches, finish some girls and finish mostly everything flying around here but alas, short on time again.
I just started preparing stuff for the next con (Saturday-Sunday... OMG... THIS WEEK!!!) and realized that I have nothing done. Like.. zero. Arg!!!

It's kinda funny and odd that my girls will be published whereas no foreign publisher is interested in Kulla. Weird. Isn't it?

And while fuzzing over buttons, pocket mirrors, three games, one book and -feels like- millions of open commissions I wonder how it comes those Christmas chocolate Santas pop up everywhere. Is it already THAT late? I had no idea.. .somehow those months vanish and at New Years Eve I wonder: Oh... that's all?! Done? Nothing left? Wow...

Have you already started buying presents?

Animagic 2009

I promised an update about the convention in Bonn, so here we go :)
I already arrived on Thursday which was relaxing (kinda) and I still had time for an appointment.

Friday (shortly before the hall opened)

That´s Sabine ... and Vinc from Tokyopop. The last meal for hours o_o

outside... even more people...

one of the coolest cosplays ever .... a DOMO-KUN!!!

The coolest of all .... Kulla! She was so damn cute ;_; *loves the cosplay to pieces*

A mini Link! The girls and the photographers loved him... and his mother and aunt were so proud (understandable). Still so small and he already posed like a pro.

The japanese guests of honour .... on the very right side: Tanemura-san.

I can´t really recall everything what happened. The german mangaka were nice, some were really amusing.
Once scene -even if Roda will kill me for telling- was like that:
me: Roda, you have to eat vegetables and fruit or else you catch the con scurvy!
Roda: No ... really? What happens?
me: Your tongue turns black!
Roda: Nooooo!!
XD

It was nice and exhausting. I doddled more bunnies than ever before and met some people I see only at *that* con -like Andre. So some things never change.

One thing -the near-death-experience - what really scared me was the allocation of the limited Tanemura-Shikishis. I´ve never seen to many people getting hysteric, pushing, running and screaming. What a scene. Some girls were so close to purple after getting their Shikishi, some cried... most squealed.

I don´t know if I can say "I want that too" because... THIS was really freaky.

I bought just one Totoro key chain.... and coffee (bad taste)... and a Manju. That´s it. I would like to go shopping but I´m always too excited to remember the shopping-thing =_=;

The last day rushed by. I forgot some things in the hotel (pants and shoes ;_; ), the train had to stop in Bochum (" We don´t have an engine driver atm, please switch trains!" ... "What do they mean with that > we don´t have an engine driver?! Who drove the train?!!< ...") and I was tired from everything but i guess in 363 days I really want to go to Bonn again. Maybe ... :)
